Word from the Pastor

Dear Parishioners,
Bear Fruit Where God Has Placed You
“The kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit.” — Matthew 21:43

God has given each of us a place, a purpose, talents, time, and opportunities. But we are not called merely to occupy the space God has given us. We are called to cultivate it, develop it, and make it fruitful.

Why Do Catholics Make the Sign of the Cross?

When we make the Sign of the Cross, we are making a prayer with our whole body. We touch our forehead, chest, left shoulder, and right shoulder while saying:

“In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

We make the Sign of the Cross when we begin and end our prayers, when we enter church, and at other important moments. It helps us remember that God is always with us.

The Sign of the Cross reminds us of two very important things:

  • God is the Holy Trinity Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. There is one God in three Persons.
  • Jesus died on the Cross for us because He loved us and wants to save us.

This Week!
The next time you make the Sign of the Cross, don’t rush. Say the words slowly and think about how much God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit love you.
