The Feast we are celebrating today is quite unusual. It is not the feast of a saint, but of a church building, the Basilica of St. John Lateran in Rome. The ninth of November is the anniversary of the dedication of this church. It is being celebrated by the entire Christian world because of its universal preeminence. This Basilica is the oldest Church in the West, the Basilica of St. John Lateran, the cathedral of the diocese of Rome, the Pope’s cathedral. This also provides us the opportunity to celebrate our catholic identity. The word “catholic” comes from two Greek elements meaning “according to the whole,” i.e. “universal.” Everywhere in the world, Christians held the same beliefs. The only ones excluded were those heretics whose errors led to the composition of the Creed in the first place later on. This basilica was built by Emperor Constantine and solemnly dedicated by Pope Sylvester I on November 09, 324. Its official title is the Archbasilica of the Most Holy Savior and of Saints John the Baptist and John Evangelist in the Lateran. It stands on the site of an ancient palace on the Celian Hill, which formerly belonged to the Laterani Family. That is where the name “Lateran” comes from. It is considered “the mother and head of all churches of Rome and the world” because it is the first church to be built, hence the oldest, and therefore, holds the title of Archbasilica. It is the Pope’s Cathedral as the Bishop of Rome. La fiesta que celebramos hoy es muy singular. No se trata de la fiesta de un santo, sino de un templo, la Basílica de San Juan de Letrán en Roma. El nueve de noviembre se conmemora el aniversario de la dedicación de esta iglesia. Todo el mundo cristiano la celebra debido a su preeminencia universal. Esta basílica es la iglesia más antigua de Occidente, la Basílica de San Juan de Letrán, catedral de la diócesis de Roma, catedral del Papa. Esto nos brinda también la oportunidad de celebrar nuestra identidad católica. La palabra “católico” proviene de dos elementos griegos que significan “de acuerdo con todos”, es decir, “universal”. En todo el mundo, los cristianos compartieron las mismas creencias. Los únicos excluidos fueron aquellos herejes cuyos errores llevaron, en primer lugar, a la composición del Credo más adelante. Esta basílica fue construida por el emperador Constantino y solemnemente consagrada por el papa Silvestre I el 9 de noviembre de 324. Su título oficial es Basílica Mayor del Santísimo Salvador y de los Santos Juan El Bautista y San Juan Evangelista. Se encuentra en Letrán, sobre el emplazamiento de un antiguo palacio en la colina Celio, que perteneció a la familia Laterani. De ahí proviene su nombre. Se la considera “madre y cabeza de todas las iglesias de Roma y del mundo” por ser la primera iglesia construida, y por tanto la más antigua, ostenta el título de Basílica Mayor. We gather at someone's house or anywhere there is an open door to welcome us, and sometimes we also gather at church.
We started about two years ago as a small group of young boys and girls who simply wanted to pray the rosary. Over time,
we sensed in our hearts that our Blessed Mother, the Virgin Mary, was calling us to spread this devotion to others — especially to young people.
There have been ups and downs along the way, but we continue to persevere, and we have seen much good fruit from this mission. While we enjoy helping at events and offering a hand wherever it is needed, our main mission is to bring the rosary into the homes of families, especially those within our parish.
We’ve started bringing the rosary into people’s
homes as part of a “missionary rosary” effort, so that the devotion can spread and reach more families.
Our hope is that everyone can experience the blessings of praying the rosary together and all
are welcome to join us.

Nos reunimos en la casa de alguien o en cualquier lugar donde haya una puerta abierta para recibirnos, y a veces también nos reunimos en la iglesia.
Comenzamos hace unos dos años como un pequeño grupo de jóvenes que simplemente querían rezar el rosario. Con el tiempo, sentimos en nuestro corazón que nuestra Santísima Madre, la Virgen María, nos llamaba a difundir esta devoción, especialmente entre los jóvenes.
Ha habido altibajos en el camino, pero seguimos perseverando y hemos visto muchos frutos positivos en esta misión. Si bien disfrutamos ayudando en eventos y ofreciendo nuestra ayuda donde sea necesario, nuestra misión principal es llevar el rosario a los hogares de las familias, especialmente a las de nuestra parroquia.
Hemos comenzado a llevar el rosario a los hogares como parte de un "rosario misionero", para que la devoción se extienda y llegue a más familias. Nuestra esperanza es que todos puedan experimentar las bendiciones de rezar el rosario juntos y todos son bienvenidos a unirse a nosotros.
