From The Desk of the Pastor
Called by Name: Nurturing Vocations in Our Parish and Diocese
History was made recently with the election of Pope Leo XIV the first American-born pope whose vocation began in the parish pews of St. Mary of Assumption Church in Chicago. Raised in the life of the Church, he served as an altar boy, sang in the choir, and attended Catholic school, all of which helped form his call to serve. His story is a powerful reminder of how vital our parishes and schools are in helping young people hear and respond to God’s call.
Events from the Diocese of SyracuseFirst Fridays with Father Joe!
Father Joe Salerrno, our pastor emeritus, will be celebrating First Friday Mass in our beautifully redecorated Seton Center Chapel on Friday, June 6th at 8:15am.
Following the Mass, the group will move to the DePaul Room for a light breakfast where Fr. Joe will deliver a brief retreat talk for participants. Eucharistic Procession
Save-the-Date for Parish Eucharistic Procession: Father Hage will be leading our parish in a Eucharistic Procession on Sunday, June 22nd in observance of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, also known as Corpus Christi.
This will be a beautiful way to honor/celebrate the True Presence of Christ in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
This solemn procession will take place in between the two Sunday morning Masses on Sunday, June 22nd.
More information to follow.
Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC)
Through websites, social networks, television, radio, and print, the Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC) helps the Church spread the Gospel message through the media locally and nationally. Half of all donations to the CCC collected in your diocese stay in your diocese to support your local communications needs, such as radio and television programming and diocesan publications.
This collection will be taken between June 8th in our Parish.
Thank you. Bible Study with Father Pawel!
Our Parochial Vicar, Fr. Pawel has graciously offered to lead our parish in a four-week Bible Study beginning on Wednesday, May 28th at 9:00am and continuing on June 11th, and June 18th.
We are so excited about this opportunity. Fr. Pawel will be leading parishioners through the Books of Pentateuch (Books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy) that feature the stories of Moses and the chosen people. Join Father Pawel on Wednesdays in the Seton Center following the 8:15 daily Mass at Lourdes.
Coffee and donuts will be serviced! All are welcome!
Communion to the Sick & Homebound
Eucharistic Ministers Training: Father Pawel and Deacon Stan will be holding a special training on Monday, June 23rd at 6:15pm at the Seton Center for anyone interested in bringing Holy Communion to the Sick & Homebound in our parish.
Our parish goal is to arrange for monthly visits to parishioners who are Sick and/or Homebound. We can do this with the help of generous volunteers who would like to serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. This training will focus on two categories of visitations: one group will be trained on how to bring Holy Communion to those at home; another group will be trained on how to bring Holy Communion to those in assisted living facilities. Anyone interested in serving as Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers at Mass would be welcome to attend this training as well.
